CFL took advantage of the lowest tides of the year to hit the seas and survey the existing Santa Monica Breakwall. In partnership with the Bay Foundation, the CFL crew used boat mounted LiDAR to map the existing structure, which is only exposed during king tides. This is part of an ongoing effort to rebuild the breakwall in order to protect nearshore infrastructure and increase intertidal habitats in the Santa Monica Bay. CFL members Timu Gallien, Margit Maple, and Gabriela Carr worked with the Bay Foundation’s Tom Ford to make this exciting dataset possible.
